Riggleman Siberians
Our Story...
Our Siberians are first and foremost part of our family. They are very social, loving dogs with a high intelligence and sweet dispositions. They are our best friends, and we try hard to give them back some of the joy they've brought to us.
My son and I have Siberians of our own, as well as several that I co own who don't live here, and occasionally have others that someone has called us about - they've been abused, abandoned, etc, and we take them in and care for them until they're well enough, or ready, to be placed. Our Siberians love to play together, but they are the happiest when they're with us, inside or out, they like to be where we are.
Our dogs are our companions first, but we also show some of them here in the United States and in Canada. We are members of the national club, the Siberian Husky Club of America.
We do occasionally have a litter of puppies, we average about a litter every other year, occasionally a litter a year. Our Siberians have been cleared through OFA for their hips, through CERF or SHOR for their eyes, and they also have their DNA certificates from AKC. We are happy to send further information on the breed to anyone who requests it.
We put a lot of love, time and care into our puppies to ensure that our customers will get a happy, healthy, friendly puppy, whether they plan to show, or have a companion. Our puppies are born and raised in our home, because we feel that this is where we can give them the best care, as well as the socialization that they need. Siberians are a very special breed, but not everyone's lifestyle is suited to having a Siberian. We ask that our customers study the breed and are positive that they have the room and the time to have this breed in their life. They are very clean animals, and have so much personality, many times they seem to really know what you're thinking and feeling and respond to it. A Siberian can enhance your life greatly, if you feel that you're ready to make the commitment to having and caring for one, but you need to be ready to make that commitment for the lifetime of your dog.
We feel that Siberians are the most loving, beautiful, intelligent dogs that you can find... however there are a few things that some people might find hard to live with, and this is why we ask so many questions of prospective owners.
Siberians run!! They may stay right around you as a young puppy, but it's their nature to run and they do - into roads, onto other people's property, after other peoples small animals, etc.
Siberians need to be confined in a very secure, reinforced, chain link dog kennel (minimum of 6' high), or on a leash at all times, for their own safety! It's heartbreaking to hear of a Siberian (or any animal) hit by a car, and if you don't confine your Siberian, it's going to happen - and that's just one of the dangers.
Siberians shed twice a year. When they shed, they shed a lot. You can't imagine how much until you go through it.
Siberians are very friendly, excellent with children, highly intelligent. They are also somewhat independent, what some people might call stubborn. They are eager to please, so with some time and effort, you can work around and with the independence.
Please feel free to contact us for further information on Siberians. I love to talk about my dogs!
